The Metaphorical Translation of the A Tribute to King Teng's Tower—A Case Study of Chat-GPT and Luo Jingguo

ABSTRACT

Chat-GPT brings certain challenges to translators. Based on this, this paper compares the translation of metaphors in A Tribute to King Teng’s Tower of Chat-GPT and Luo Jingguo. It is found that in the translation of metaphors, Chat-GPT mostly adopts straight translation, and the quality of that is not high, while Luo Jingguo discreetly adopts both straight and metaphorical translation as well as transplantation, and the quality of that is higher. The results of the study show that Chat-GPT performs poorly in dealing with the translation of metaphors, and there is still room for improvement in translating image and accurately expressing connotations.
