ABSTRACT
Literature
has witnessed the appearance of many movements and approaches throughout the
history. After World War II, particularly in the 1960s, postmodernism has come
to surface and as an up-to-date movement, many eminent critics and cultural
historians have turned their concerns and attention to it. This study examines
the concept of postmodernism and it explores its main characteristics that
appear in Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist (1986).
