ABSTRACT
Background: Malignant tumors of the child represent one of the
major causes of mortality in children between 1 and 14 years in the West. Young people recovering from childhood
cancer may have complications related to the disease itself or treatment. Complications can be somatic, psychic or
socio-occupational and familial. The current study aims to know the current status of young children treated in the oncology unit of PHOU (Pediatric
Hemato-Oncology Unit),
Rabat Children Hospital is exclusively or jointly between 1978 and 2004. Material and methods: It will be a
cross-sectional study conducted among childhood cancer survivors treated
between 1978 and 2004 at the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Children’s Hospital of Rabat. Medical and demographic data will
be collected through questionnaires completed by phone or
internet, by the survivor, his parent or his physician.
Discussion: To our knowledge, there is no previous study about the
fate of Moroccan childhood cancer survivors before our study. Hence, it will be
a cross-sectional study to have a quick picture on the situation in Morocco. It
would be necessary to establish a follow-up strategy in Morocco.
