ABSTRACT
This
document shows the use of the calculator to assist in solving different divisions
of students in fourth grade of elementary school, through the interaction in
its components (divisor, dividend, quotient and remainder). Worksheets were
used with a constructivist approach, which provided the student self-assessment
tests. The teacher’s role was helpful when deemed necessary, in order to
develop in students’ self-directed learning in an environment of problem-solving
and teamwork. This study used a divide-by-sides method, which was
effective to understand the conventional algorithm of the division and move
from the division of one number in the divisor to the double-digit divisor,
without losing the sense that it involves. In the testing study, various
methodological tools were used.
