ABSTRACT
This paper initiates a
conversation on how Africa can achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9
through an effective intellectual property system. In the main, the paper
explores some of Africa’s intellectual property frameworks in the light of the innovations taking place within the
continent. We contend that an effective intellectual property system that
recognizes intellectual property rights is key in driving progress
in all societies. Consequently, Africa needs a robust intellectual property
framework which guarantees the rights of intellectual creators.
