ABSTRACT
The paper entitled “Jay
Treaty 1794: The Treasure Trove for Principles of International Law on
Protection of Foreign Investments”, analyses Jay Treaty to discern the
classical principles of international law on protection of foreign investments.
It discerns at least 10 such principles which underlie various provisions of
Jay Treaty. The paper argues that these principles are ubiquitous, enduring,
and lofty and have the potential to address some of the contentious issues of
contemporary international law on protection of foreign investments.
